Joshua L. Stayn is the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of HighSage Ventures.
Mr. Stayn is a strategic, business-minded legal leader with more than two decades of in-house and law firm experience advising and helping lead the legal and compliance functions of investment management and other private and public companies.
Mr. Stayn joined HighSage from Highfields Capital Management, where he was most recently the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Investment & Operations Counsel, leading all aspects of the firm’s legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance functions until the firm returned all remaining capital to investors. Before joining Highfields, Mr. Stayn oversaw legal and regulatory compliance matters for Brookfield Renewable Partners, North America, spent several years handling complex securities, tax, regulatory, litigation, and enforcement matters at Goodwin LLP, and clerked for a federal judge in Boston.
Mr. Stayn received his A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard College and his J.D. and M.P.P. from Duke University, where he served on the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal and as a teaching assistant to a leading expert in philanthropy, foundations, and not-for-profit law. He and his wife reside with their two boys in Wellesley, MA.
